The Tabletop Gaming Show
The goal of this project was to dream up a fictional event and design its branding including a logo, a welcome banner and poster to go inside the event, and three versions of online advertisements. I created The Tabletop Gaming Show, a charity event weekend all about playing and getting involved with all manner of tabletop games. In branding the event, it was important to represent various different styles of game, to show the range of the event, and appeal to all different potential guests.
An Homage to the Classics
Due to the event being entirely a fabrication of my own brain, I started this project off by researching real events of similar nature, to get a better grasp on what the TTGS might be like in real life. Once I had an idea of the show’s potential audience and what it may have to offer, I jumped into finding its style. I chose a very simple colour palette for the show, nodding to the classic look of playing cards with black, white, and red. For the logo and further iconography, I chose to represent some of the most recognizable shapes from classic games. After toying around for quite a while with size and spacing, The Tabletop Gaming Show's logo came to be.
Once the main brand was established, I was able to expand the style I'd created out into the rest of the branding, using simple illustrations of iconic game shapes to catch the eye and give the individual deliverables their consistent look.
Effective and Personal
I was very happy with the final result of this project. It all feels very cohesive, and I think that the style could easily be translated to even more applications, should need be. I love the way it turned out, and I feel like this is a project that really showcases my own personality, for how much I was able to invent about it.
